Zynga Officially Releases Free Bingo Game

Watch out, Buffalo. There’s a new way to play bingo on Facebook and everyone’s talking about it.

A few weeks ago, two companies hit the headlines when they became embroiled in accusations of copycat software design. Buffalo Studios, owner of the popular free bingo game Bingo Blitz, accused Zynga of copying their design to launch their own Facebook-based gaming application, sending a tongue-in-cheek release thanking Zynga for being fans of their game and pointing out the similarities between the two.

Zynga’s CEO sent a memo to its staff, saying that what mattered was not being ‘first in market’, but ‘best in market’. It was a mark that hit home, given the many problems with Buffalo’s software and the continuous pleas for bug fixes and threats to play bingo online elsewhere.

Amidst the controversy, Zynga has officially released its bingo game, the first in the Zynga Casino range that was announced in October and is expected to include blackjack, roulette, poker and slots. At this point, you cannot win real cash in Zynga Bingo. Although Zynga offers free bingo credits daily, players can buy extra credits with cash, and the developer is set to make a pretty penny if the game goes well.

Already, those frustrated with Bingo Blitz have enthusiastically decided to give Zynga a shot, inviting their friends to play bingo with them on the new application. Time will tell whether Zynga’s promise of being ‘best in market’ will hold true!
