Tiger Woods In The Race

The Australian Open has started off with some interesting news.

Tiger has stated that comments by his former caddie, Steve Williams, were wrong, but that Steve is not a racist. After a face to face meeting between the two, Woods confirmed that Steve did apologise and that was the end of the matter.

This has sadly overshadowed the start of the Australian Open where online betting sites have Woods as the joint favourite to win the tournament outright at 5/1 odds (Nick Watney being the other favourite at Bet365.) The other players listed in the top five are Dustin Johnson at 11/2, Adam Scot & Jason Day at 8/1, and Bubba Watson at 16/1.

John Daly has walked out of the Open, after hitting six balls into the water from the 11th tee. The leader at present, is Jarrod Lyle with a -7; with Tiger three shots behind him with -4.

It is truly amazing that after Tiger’s recent poor form (since his marriage break-up etc) that online betting sites are still taking money on him to win. Personally, I would not even have a free bet on him to place. Don’t get me wrong, I still feel Tiger will come good, and when he does, we shall see him dominating golf once more. I just think it will take a couple more tournaments to get it right.
