It was only a matter of time for Tiger to get back on the winning trail. He had his first win in two years at the Chevron World Challenge in California. This moves Tiger to 21st in the world rankings and hopefully this will give him the momentum to continue with the success. Online betting operators always knew this was coming, and this was reflected in outright odds for Tiger in any tournament. I suspect the odds will now get a bit shorter!
Tiger admitted “It feels great” to be winning again, but what really struck me was the manner in which he won at the end. There was a lot of pressure that he had to deal with, but Woods hit five birdies in his closing three under par 69 to bring himself one behind the leader in the final round. Tiger went on to sink a 15 foot birdie to draw level and went on to win. I am positive that online betting golf traders will take note and dread the days to come when he starts winning tournaments consistently.
Looking into the future, Bet365 already have 2012 Season Specials. The price for Tiger Woods to win 2 Majors in 2012 is 9/1 - sports betting punters may fancy a bit of that. I know that Woods still needs time to properly get over his injuries etc, but I am hoping that we can start to see what we all know he is capable of in 2012.
The US Money List 2012 is another good indicator of what odds compliers and the market think of Tiger’s chances. Bet365 have him favourite at 5/2 to top the US Money List outright. Second favourite being Rory McIlroy at 8/1 - so you can see the difference immediately. I wish him the best, and hope that the Tiger is truly out of the woods!
