All the English clubs are either struggling or yet to make certain qualification for the knock out stages of the tournament - bar one - Arsenal Football Club. I would reckon online betting traders would be quite satisfied with the storyline so far.
On their current Premier League form, I would have certainly expected to Manchester City to be already through instead of sitting third in their group. I know that we can always say that Champions League football takes some getting used to, but as a sports betting fan I would have expected them to perform well based on their current form and squad.
Manchester United always make it hard for themselves, so I will say nothing else on that - except that they will be in the next round (no matter what happens). Chelsea, on their current run of form, would be expected to struggle, although a draw would have been a fairer result. The biggest shock for me is how The Gunners are performing, as the only English team to be already through to the knock out stages. But at least online betting fans who were brave enough to choose them were handsomely rewarded, especially if you had a scorecast bet with Robin van Persie!
Sports betting fans would have been disappointed with Arsenal’s start of the season. But they dug deep after the humilation at Old Trafford and are on a nine match unbeaten run. Of all the William Hill bets being taken on which English Team will progress the furthest in the Champions League, Arsenal are 9/4 (with Chelsea) - ManU being the favourites at 6/4. Not a bad price considering ManU may not finish at the top of their table. With regards to the Premiership, the only value bet over the season is finishing in the Top 4. Arsenal are 5/4, and although Spurs are 5/6; I can still see Spurs failing to keep their consistency.
