Surviving the Festive Christmas Season

Football sports betting over the holidays is always very exciting.

The match schedule is very hectic; and at the end of it all, the teams at either end of the table, more or less know their fate. This year the relegation battle looks just about a done deal, with Bolton and Blackburn near certainties to be out of the Premiership next season.

Online betting operator William Hills also have Wigan as odds-on favourite to be relegated at 1/2. I do not want to give up hope on them just yet. They do have quite a trying set of fixtures over the holidays, with Liverpool (21 Dec), Manchester United (26 Dec) and Stoke (31 Dec); but the draw against Chelsea is proof that all is not lost. In fact, if Wigan can manage another draw at home to Liverpool and survive at Stoke; I can see them winning against Sunderland and QPR. The relegation betting markets would then have a different view of it all!

As I review the online betting for relegation, I would be very tempted to stick money on Wolverhampton. Hills have them priced at 9/4 for the drop, which is good bet to keep the holidays interesting! Wolves have Arsenal and Chelsea to deal with; which means they will have to pick up points against Bolton and Norwich. Norwich most likely will be a struggle and if they slip up away to Bolton; 9/4 will be very good value for anyone looking to make some cash from sports betting!
