After the shock Wimbledon exit, Serena Williams defeated Johanna Larsson 6-4 6-1 in Bastad to win the Swedish Open.

The world number one in women’s tennis has already clocked up seven titles and won 51 matches for the year, and there seems to be a lot more come. Right now one can bet online with bet365 for Serena to win the US Open 2013 where she is already priced up as favourite at 5/6

The Swedish Open is not one of the popular tournaments on tour, but she most definitely selected the clay court tournament to get over the loss at Wimbledon, and regain her confidence which will stand her in good stead for the season. The American actually confirmed this is an interview where she stated that ‘it was really good to come here and win after a disappointing Wimbledon’ and that she hoped the ‘confidence will help’ for the rest of the year.

Although the tournament is rated four levels below a Grand Slam, the final was a hard fought affair with Serena and her fans having a bit of a scare with her going 3-1 behind in the first set. But there was to be no shock result this time and the favourite and world number one overcame the Swedish number one and world number 76 to win her 53rd WTA title of her playing career.

It has been a fantastic 2013 for the American number one, with Wimbledon being a slight blip on the steep upwardly climbing graph. So far Serena has managed a title per month with the Brisbane International, Sony Open, Family Circle Cup, Madrid Open, Italian Open, French Open and Swedish Open. There seems to be no stopping the talent who is destined to be one of the greats in the Women’s tennis world, and the best thing about it, is that there is more to come!
