Any casinos operating without a licence in Denmark as of January, will risk their website being blocked or their payments denied.
Currently there are a number of poker sites operating without licences, who have been taking advantage of Denmark’s unregulated market, however this is all set to change as of next year with the Danish government enforcing gambling operators to pay licensing fees. Each of the operators will have to pay a hefty 20% tax on their gross income alongside the licensing fees, in order to offer Danish players online poker. The Danish government must be jumping for joy, with the promise of this new found revenue.
Denmark is the latest in European countries who have realized the enormous potential in the gambling market. Thus the Danes have adopted their own poker strategy to deal with the huge demand for online casinos and have introduced their own online gambling laws in line with Germany, France and Spain.
This new legislation will ensure that all poker enthusiasts, can play in a safe and secure environment, where there is no danger of losing your deposits or winnings.
