Online Casino Reviews Will Help You Look Before You Leap

Pride yourself on being a jump-right-in kind of person? That might work in some situations, but when it comes to online casinos you had best look before you leap.

Christmas is the season for parties, and whilst attending one last week I was unfortunately stuck in the company of one of those people – you know, the ones with heads so big you can’t really understand how you’re managing to fit in the same room with him and it. The worst thing about it is the fact that you don’t want to be rude (by making a weak excuse and running as fast as your heels can carry you) but strangely they don’t seem to feel the same reservations.

As soon as he found out that I wrote online casino reviews, he was off to the races (so to speak). “I never read that junk,” he scoffed. “If I want to play casino games, I’ll play them – I don’t have the time to read long-winded reviews telling me what to do!”

Oh, I politely remarked, unsure of what else to say. Which site did he currently favour? Ladbrokes, William Hill Casino, 888? Surely if you’re going to take a risk it must be with one of the big names. But to my surprise, he named a site I’d never heard of.

“I’m no expert,” he whispered confidentially, clearly not buying it. “But I’m smart enough to pick a site that’s small enough to not rip you off, and big enough to pay out big.”

And what about the possibility that he’s not choosing a reputable site? He looked at me as if I were stupid. “You can tell if it’s a fraud just by looking at it.”

Thing is, you can’t. Fraudsters and scam artists survive by being good at what they do. It’s not unusual for a rogue site to offer a professional facade, excellent casino games and really decent customer support – right up until the second they close your account and mysteriously vanish into the outskirts of the Internet.

It’s also a fallacy that big-name casinos will rip you off just because they can – that the bigger the casino, the lower the payout ratio. It’s simply not true. If that kind of thing is important to you (and let’s be honest, it’s important to most people) you need to check the payout ratio before you play.

It’s why it’s so important to read online casino reviews – because finding this kind of information is extremely important and it can be time consuming to do it all yourself. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that because it’s entertainment it deserves less than what you would do for anything else requiring your credit card details.

I didn’t want to burst my new friend’s bubble, nor did I think he would take kindly to advice he clearly didn’t think he needed. But I was curious to discover if he felt this way about other things. “I’m more of a jump-right-in kind of guy,” he informed me. “I don’t read, I take action. I’m just that sort of person.” Well, of course. Why waste time with other people’s opinions when you can spend that time professing your own?
