Justin Rose finally won his first major title at the Merion to become the first Englishman to win the US Open for 43 years.

The tournament was filled with incident and excitement, and the course lived up to it reputation of being very demanding and unforgiving. Sports betting punters would have never believed that Tiger Woods would finish the worst ever in his career and world number two Rory Mcllroy struggled from early on in the tournament.

Justin Rose came through under tremendous pressure from Phil Mickelson and Jason Day to win the tournament by two shots. It was an emotional moment for Justin as he looked up to the heavens thinking of his father who died of leukaemia in 2002, and the fact that it was actually Father’s Day made the Englishman think his dad had a hand in his son winning the prestigious trophy.

Justin had a rough time at the start of his professional career, with the young man missing 21 consecutive cuts before winning his first professional tournament in 2002. His best performance in a major before this win was tied-third in the US PGA. Justin is now the third UK winner of the title in four years, and we are hoping that this trend continues.
