The inaugural Indian Grand Prix on 30th October was a huge success and finished without any problems.

Drivers commented on how warm, friendly and excited the Indian fans were towards them and sang praises on the design of the race circuit and its performance. On the day, the Buddh International Circuit saw a crowd of about 95,000 which reflects the popularity of the sport.

It was four years ago that India agreed on terms to have the Formula 1 available in India. The project has been completed privately funded by the Jaypee Group and has no financial support from the Indian government. What does this mean - it tells me that the best bet is that F1 is going to be hugely profitable, especially with India being the second most heavily populated (1 billion people!) country in the world.

Congratulations to India - the next race is in Abu Dhabi on the 13th November. Betfred has Sebastian Vettel 5/6 to win the race - surprise, surprise! My money is going on Alonso finishing on the podium - £20 each- way bet and let’s hope for the best!
