Lewis Hamilton finished eighth after starting at the back of the gird and is now third in the Championship, nine points behind Vettel and Alonso.

F1 sports betting fans would have been horrified to see Lewis stop his car on the track after setting the fastest qualifying time that would have seen him start in pole position. However, due to the human error in the pits, where they mis-calculated the amount of fuel required to finish the qualifying session (which is minimum of one litre of fuel in the car), meant that Hamilton suffered a technical infringement. This infringement saw the McLaren driver start the race form the back of the grid.

Lewis and the team were caught out by a simple error which had huge implications, and although there were loads of positives to take away from the race, it just proves once more how important the entire team is in Formula 1, as opposed to just the driver. One must admit that the attitude of Lewis and the McLaren team were impeccable. There was no doubt that the car was one of the fastest out there from the qualifying times, but Lewis’ temperament during the race showed a maturity which would lead pundits in the sport to believe the Englishman is definitely coming of age.

In addition, it seems that Lewis has finally mastered the art of looking after his tyres, as he was the only driver to manage completing the race with only two pit stops. So going forward, there are massive expectations for the McLaren team and the hope that their luck will come good and they will be able to make it good this year.
