It has been confirmed by Galatasaray president Unal Aysal that the club is interested in luring Dimitar Berbatov away from Manchester United.

Berbatov’s contract comes to an end in summer and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he does indeed look elsewhere to rekindle his playing career.

If you bet online or follow football, you'll probably agree that on paper Berbatov should be perfect for a club like Manchester United. The Bulgarian is record goalscorer for his country (although he retired from international football in 2010) and has won the Bulgarian Player of the Year seven times. He was named in the PFA Team of the Year when he was at Spurs and online betting sites note that he had a great goalscoring record at Tottenham (averaging one goal every two games).

At the start of the 2008-2009 season, Sir Alex managed to complete Berba’s move to Manchester United. His period at ManU has received mixed reviews. His ‘lazy’ style of play has been noted by critics, but he still was the Premier League’s joint top goal scorer with 20 goals in 2010-2011. With Ronaldo and Tevez leaving, Berbatov should have cemented his place alongside Rooney but this has failed to happen, with Ferguson’s choice being Javier Hernandez.

In the past, Berbatov has expressed his desire to stay at ManU, but my best bet would be for him to move on. There is no doubt he is a talented player, but fate has not allowed him to command a full time in Sir Alex’s first eleven - such a shame....
