Football Gets Racy

Football has come a long way since the days when there were only a few black players involved in the top flight.

Being a team sport, football would be one of the perfect sports to help bridge the gap between black and white. However, it still does have some idiotic scenarios, where players may be abusive to black players on the other team, but not to their own black team mates.

Audiences looking at English football would have believed that racism in the sport (between players) was definitely on its way out as we have not seen any examples for such a long time - especially with the in-depth SKY coverage of the Premiership and Championship.

But just recently we have seen two instances with John Terry and Luis Suarez. Although nothing has yet to be confirmed and the two instances are being investigated; I would tend to believe that they did indeed happen. Why would Anton Ferdinand and Patrice Evra go through the hassle if the claims were not true?

Also, we all know the attitude of the Spanish football towards racism, and so it would not be too surprising to find out that Luis did let something slip. With regards to JT, it would be a great shame - being English captain and such a long serving, high profile player at Chelsea. I just hope the FA and Police can complete their investigations quickly, so that we can bring an end to the speculation.

In the online betting world, I have come across very few bookmakers showing any betting markets for whether the allegations are fact or fiction. An interesting market would be the odds for another player being accused this weekend - Paddy Power any thoughts??
