It seems at least the Euro2012 has been good for something. One lucky woman, after being ignored by her partner because the football was on television, began to play bingo online instead – and hit the jackpot.
Lisa Porter, 33, from Oxfordshire, entered the Ladbrokes Bingo site when her partner Terry Goodman refused to change the channel on the television away from the Euro2012 coverage. After seeing the size of the jackpot she decided to have a go, so she placed a single £5 bet – and won £1,364,745.23.
Lisa said: 'I can't remember much after – it's all a blur. My kids came into the room and we all started screaming.' She says they are a normal family, so the money will change their lives – she plans to splash out on a holiday, a new car and a new house.
Ladbrokes Bingo handed the cheque over to Lisa and her family at a champagne celebration thrown to congratulate her. One of the representatives Alex Donohue joked – 'We bet she'll never moan at her man for watching the footie ever again!' That might be unlikely, but she'll have the cash to make the game more interesting by placing a few quid on who'll win.
