The first leg of the Championship play-off semi final saw West Ham in complete control with a two nil win over Cardiff City.

Jack Collison, West Ham’s Welsh midfielder scored twice to place Sam Allardyce’s team in a strong position for the second leg at Upton Park on Monday. Online sports betting site, Skybet has West Ham as odds on favourites at 8/13 to beat Cardiff City and 5/6 to win Championship Promotion Outright.

Big Sam has tried not to become over confident with the win, already stating that the team would not ‘get carried away’ and ‘there’s a long way to go’. But in all honesty, if West Ham can have the same concentration and focus that they showed in Cardiff, for the game on Monday, then the two goals margin should be more than sufficient for them go through. I suppose, Allardyce will always be thinking back to 1996, when he was in a similar situation with Blackpool being two goals up, only to lose three nil at home to Bradford in the second leg.

However, the Hammers do seem to be in good form to come back to the Premier League after being relegate last season. The players look strong and are oozing with confidence and freedom that is just a joy to watch whatever division you happen to be in. I am sure that everyone in football would love to have West Ham back in top flight football, and Sam will no doubt be up to the challenge of keeping them there, as we all know that he possesses the experience and know how to handle the Premier League.
