Is anyone betting on Chelsea to win the Champions League?

The Blues have managed to reach the finals of the Champions League, in spite of online betting views, sporting pundits and anyone witnessing the awesome power of Barcelona. Chelsea and Roberto di Matteo may just have enough good fortune left to give their owner, Roman Abramovich what he has always dreamed of, the Champions League crown.

The first leg saw Chelsea defeat Barcelona at Stamford Bridge 1-0, but no one ever dreamed that The Blues would be able to defend that lead at the Nou Camp. This was well justified, as Barcelona are almost impossible to defeat at home, as Jose Mourinho has publicly admitted. I certainly believed that home advantage, the amount of possession Barcelona would enjoy, plus the sheer size of the pitch would all make for an easy Barca win. But, this was not to be the case, and just goes to show that anything can happen in football.

Chelsea fought hard and even when reduced to ten men and the score being 2-0 to Barcelona, the English club soaked up the pressure, rode their luck and drew the game at 2-2. This meant they went through to the finals on final aggregate score of 3-2. Barcelona did everything they could, and will look back at Messi penalty miss, their 72% possession, and countless chances going astray, with dread and regret.

Going forward, the question is whether Chelsea can now go on and win the title. It seems to me that whoever they meet will have the upper hand. Chelsea will be without four first team players due to suspension and, mentally they will be drained from a game with Barcelona that was worthy to be the actual final. But what does anyone know, as it seems more and more the case that Chelsea is destined to be the Champions!
