The deadline has been inching forward and it's crunch time for gambling operators wishing to provide services within the Garden State. The launch date for online wagering in the state is November 26, and those who'd like to offer online casino games to New Jerseyites have very little time left to secure a license.
Online gaming giant Betfair has secured a 'transactional waiver' from New Jersey's gaming commissioners, meaning that the company will be able to operate whilst its application for a license is undergoing review by the Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Like all online operators, Betfair has had to partner with an existing land-based casino to offer its services, and Betfair has an agreement with Trump Plaza Associates. This means that the confirmed partnerships that have been issued licenses are as follows:
1. Atlantic Club – yet to be announced
2. Bally's and Gamesys (888Holdings)
3. Borgata Hotel & Spa and bwin.party
4. Caesars and Amaya
5. Golden Nugget and Bally Technologies
6. Harrah's – yet to be announced
7. Resorts – Pokerstars seeking agreement
8. Revel – yet to be announced
9. Showboat – yet to be announced
10. Tropicana and Gamesys (888Holdings)
11. Trump Plaza and Betfair
12. Trump Taj Mahal and Ultimate Gaming Partners
Said Paul LaFontaine, Betfair's Managing Director of Gaming: 'We're pleased to be one of the pioneers bringing online casino games to the state of New Jersey.'
Betfair will join 888Holdings and bwin.party in a soft launch on November 21 ahead of the actual launch on the 26th.
